Teenage boy killed and another seriously injured in Taunton crash
Two teenage boys are believed to have been on an electric motorcycle when it hit a car on East Reach last night (1 October)
A teenage boy has died and another is in hospital in critical condition after a collision in Taunton.
Emergency services were called to reports of a two-vehicle collision in East Reach at around 10:20pm last night (1 October).
Police say the collision involved a car and a second vehicle which they believe to be an electric motorcycle but it was not at the scene when officers arrived.
It's believed two teenage boys were riding that vehicle when it collided with a car whose driver had stopped at the traffic lights near the junction with Haydon Road.
One of the boys was taken to hospital by air ambulance where they remain in a critical condition.
The second boy, aged 16, died at the scene and police believe he was most likely the pillion passenger.
Police say his family have been informed and they will be supported by a specially-trained officer.
Enquires are ongoing to locate the vehicle the pair were riding.
East Reach was closed for several hours as a result of the collision, but was reopened at about 7.30am this morning.
Police are asking anyone with information about the collision or the suspected electric motorbike involved to contact them.
Members of the public are also being asked by officers not to speculate on the circumstances of the collision or publish on social media any images or footage from the scene.
