Police investigations into a fatal collision in Taunton, which resulted in the death of a 16-year-old boy, have led to the arrest of a teenager and the seizure of a vehicle.
The incident occurred at approximately 10.20pm on Thursday, 1st October, on East Reach, when an electric motorbike with two riders collided with a car stopped at traffic lights near the junction with Haydon Road.
The 16-year-old boy, believed to have been the pillion passenger, tragically died at the scene, and his family is being supported by a specially trained officer.
A second teenage boy, who was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition, has since been discharged but requires ongoing medical treatment.
The electric motorcycle was not at the scene when police arrived but has since been traced and seized for forensic examination.
As part of the ongoing investigation, a 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance.
He was subsequently released on police bail to an address outside the Avon and Somerset policing area, with conditions including an overnight curfew and not returning to Somerset.
Police are appealing for anyone with information or footage relevant to the collision to come forward.
