Investigations are continuing into the cause of a blaze at a property in Stoney Stratton, in Somerset.

Fire crews have confirmed that the incident has finally come to a stop this morning (12 May) - nearly 24 hours after they were originally called out to the scene.

Sharing updates on their incidents page, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "Firefighters are currently dealing with a fire involving a property in Stoney Stratton Somerset. The first fire engine arriving reported smoke issuing but all persons were accounted for.

"Firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus are working to locate the source of the fire. Crews have isolated the electricity to the premises and are at work in the roof space."

Firefighters later went on to say how crews wearing Breathing Apparatus are using 2 hose reel jets and thermal imaging cameras to locate and extinguish the fire.

Additional resources were also requested, including an Aerial Ladder Platform and Water Bowser.

Later, the number of fire engines upped to eight, with local residents told to keep doors and windows closed because of what was described as a 'plume' of smoke rising into the sky.

The Environment Agency were made of aware of the incident along with other agencies including Bristol Water and Avon & Somerset Police.

In their final two updates last night, crews added: "Crews are carrying out internal and external firefighting removing the tin roof. Crews are also salvaging items from the property. Equipment being used is 1 ground monitor, 2 hose reel jets, 2 main jets. 30 BA crews have been utilised so far carrying out firefighting and salvage duties. One 135 ladder, 105 ladder and 2 roof ladders were used. Steady progress is being made in all sectors.

"This is confirmed as one detached residential property of timber clad construction over two storeys measuring 25M X 15M. The ground floor, first floor and roof are 50% damaged by fire and 100% damaged by smoke."
