Emergency crews from Bridgwater Fire Station successfully rescued four cows after they became trapped in a water-filled ditch in Edington.

Fire Control received the call at 6:33 pm on Tuesday evening, prompting the mobilisation of the Animal Rescue team alongside Bridgwater’s On-Call crew.

On arrival, firefighters found the animals stuck in the muddy ditch, where they appeared to have been trapped for some time.

Crews quickly formulated a rescue plan, using dry suits, safety lines, and other specialist equipment to free the animals safely.

A member of the public also assisted at the scene.

All four cows were brought to safety without injury, and the incident was declared closed later that evening.
