Services suspended on West Somerset Railway after lorry hits bridge on B3224
A road closure is in place on the B3224 in Watersmeet
Services on the West Somerset Railway have been temporarily suspended after a lorry struck a railway bridge.
A road closure is in place on the B3224 in Watersmeet near the junction with the A358, between Combe Florey and Bishops Lydeard after the incident this morning.
West Somerset Railway said it was made aware of the collision by a member of the public after the 10:15 service left from Bishops Lydeard, and that it has suspended services while the bridge was assessed.
The affected bridge is situated between Bishops Lydeard and Crowcombe Heathfield.
The heritage railway company added that despite the suspension, a Diesel service was operating between Minehead and Crowcombe Heathfield stations and passengers who has booked a meal would have it served at the stationary Bishops Lydeard station.
