Police are appealing for a man to come forward who they think was a victim of an assault in Yeovil.

Officers attended a report of criminal damage in Stars Lane on Sunday 15th of March shortly after 12.40am. A man reportedly damaged a car by jumping on it and breaking the windscreen.

Officers arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of criminal damage nearby. He has since been released on bail.

When officers reviewed CCTV of the incident, they saw footage of the suspect appearing to punch an unknown member of the public in the stomach. The suspect was subsequently further arrested for that offence.

This assault was not reported to police, but they are keen to hear from the victim to check on his welfare and to see if he wishes to provide a statement. He can contact them online or phoning 101, quoting reference number 5226071845.

The man who was arrested has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
