Police have arrested a teenager after a large fire took place near Weston Super Mare earlier this week.

The Avon Fire and Rescue Service were called to the blaze near Locking Farm Industrial Estate in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The fire damaged several industrial units which has severely impacted several local businesses.

Investigative work by the fire service has concluded that the cause of the fire was likely deliberate.

As a result of this, police detectives have been carrying out house-to-house and CCTV enquiries. Last night, officers arrested a 17-year-old male on suspicion of an arson offence. He remains in police custody.

Officers ask that anyone with information should contact them by calling 101 or through their website, quoting reference number 5226232390.
