Person dies on tracks near Somerset railway station

A person has died after an incident on the train tracks at Bruton Railway Station.

The British Transport Police (BTP) and paramedics were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks at around 12:35pm this afternoon (March 10).

A person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Trains were called between Castle Cary / Salisbury and Westbury while emergency services responded to the incident.

The British transport Police said in a statement: "The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
