New electric bus introduced to Frome's public transport
Zero-emission vehicle aims to cut carbon footprint and improve accessibility
A 16-seat electric bus has been unveiled by Somerset Council in Frome as part of their 30 service route.
The newly launched bus boasts zero emissions and is accessible with a low floor and wheelchair-friendly design.
The addition of the vehicle enhances Somerset's fleet of electric First buses currently operating across the county.
Serving as an essential transport option, the bus provides access to town centre services while promoting sustainability by reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
Councillor Richard Wilkins, Lead Member for Transport and Waste Services at Somerset Council, commented on the initiative: “Our electric bus is helping us cut our carbon footprint, while providing a smooth and comfortable ride for bus passengers.
“I hope this will encourage more people to ‘bus it’ and swap a car journey for a bus trip. Electric vehicles are proving popular in other areas where they have been introduced, and I am sure the new Somerset Council bus will be welcomed in Frome.”
