MP in Parliament to get Wellington railway station back on track

Gideon Amos MP is leading a delegation to Parliament today to press the case for the Wellington and Cullompton Stations project to get back on track.
The party travelling to London – which includes a number of Wellington town councillors – will meet the Rail Minister, Lord Hendy.
The stations project remains under review by the government after the ending of the ‘Restoring Your Railway’ programme last summer.
Mr Amos said: “This project is a crucial opportunity to improve connectivity, leisure, and business opportunities across the South West.
“I’m determined to see it through and I’m working closely with Richard Foord, MP for Honiton & Sidmouth, to make it happen.
“We will be in London to demonstrate the widespread support for the project.
“We will continue to press hard for the project to go ahead and will not rest until these vital stations are reopened,” he added.
The delegation will hand Lord Hendy two letters backing the stations – from a group of South West MPs and from the town council.
