Man in custody after driving offences and assault allegations in Warminster
Police were called to Warminster Services following reports that a man, believed to be intoxicated, was behind the wheel of a car with a child inside
A man in his 30s from Frome is in custody following multiple alleged offences in Warminster.
On the night of 21st July, police responded to reports at Warminster Services on Bath Road, where a man reportedly intoxicated was driving a car with a child inside.
Officers found the vehicle and discovered a large amount of alcohol inside.
The man refused a breathalyser test and was arrested on suspicion of failing to provide a specimen.
Further inquiries led to additional arrests for driving whilst disqualified, driving without insurance, and three counts of assault after an incident in Burger King prior to police arrival.
The child in the vehicle was safely returned home by authorities, and the man was taken to Melksham for further questioning.
Police continue their inquiries.
