Man his 30s arrested after reports of dangerous driving on the M5 in Somerset

Police are appealing for witnesses

A man has been arrested after reports dangerous driving on the M5 in Somerset.

Avon and Somerset Police say a Ford Focus ST was reported to be "swerving between lanes at excess speed" on the southbound carriageway between junction 16 (Almondsbury) and junction 21 (Weston-super-Mare), between 10.30am and 11am on Sunday 7 June.

Officers have carried out CCTV enquires, intelligence checks and taken witnesses statements as part of their investigation.

A man in his thirties who was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving while above the alcohol limit, and possession of a class A drug and has since been released under investigation.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
