Man dies after A371 crash near Wells

A man in his 30s has died after a crash involving two cars on the A371 near Wells.

Officers were called to the collision in Dinder, between Shepton Mallet and Wells, shortly after 3pm yesterday (February 19th).

Police say an Audi S3 and a VW Golf collided and the Golf left the road and entered a nearby field.

The VW Gold driver was pronouced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by a specialist family liaison officer.

Two people in the Audi S3, in their 30s, suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital.

Their families have been informed.

The road was closed for several hours while an enquiries took place but has since reopened.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with footage to come forward.
