A Yeovil man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was attacked in her home.
Colin Thorne, 32, of Kiddles, Yeovil, appeared at Yeovil Magistrates' Court on Monday 9 February, charged with the attempted murder of a woman in her fifties at an address in the West Hendford area.
Police say a woman called emergency services in the early hours of Sunday (February 8th) and reported that someone had been in her home and she had suffered a neck injury.
The woman needed hospital treatment but was discharged the same day.
Neighbourhood Chief Inspector Andrew Pritchard said: "We wish the woman a speedy recovery. Officers responded promptly, making an arrest within three hours.
"You may have seen an increased police presence in Kiddles in recent days as we carried out searches and examinations at an address.
"That work has now concluded, and there is no evidence of any wider risk to the public."
Thorne has been remanded into custody until his next appearance at Taunton Crown Court on Monday 9 March.
