A 37 year old man from London has been charged in connection with a crash on an M4 slip road in Wiltshire.

A black Audi was being pursued by Avon and Somerset Police at the time, following reports of a burglary in the Gwent Police area.

The car collided with a Nissan Juke on the junction 17 slip road at around 2.50am on Tuesday (20th May).

The vehicle was being chased by police, in connection with a reported incident in Fair View in Pengam just over an hour earlier.

The driver's been charged with driving a motor vehicle dangerously, possession of a firearm and going equipped for burglary and was remanded to appear at Newport Magistrates Court today (Thursday 22nd May).

He's also been released under investigation, after also being arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and aggravated burglary with intent, with enquiries ongoing.

Detective Superintendent Steven Maloney, the senior investigating officer from Gwent Police, said:

“Our investigation into these matters continues and we’re keen to identify the other two men reportedly involved in the burglary earlier this week.

“If you know who they are, then I would urge you to get it touch with us so we can continue to take action as we have so far with the arrest and charging decision.

“We understand that the collision which followed the reported burglary caused a significant impact to many motorists, so I’m grateful to the public for their patience and understanding as officers carried out their enquiries.”

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to call Gwent Police on 101, quoting reference reference 2500158756.
