As thousands of music fans prepare to try and secure tickets for next year's Glastonbury Festival tonight, we're taking a closer look at how some of the money raised by the event supports local charities.

Tickets for Glastonbury 2027 are expected to be in high demand once again, despite their rising cost in recent years, with festival-goers paying hundreds of pounds for the chance to attend the event at Worthy Farm.

Beyond the headline acts and global attention, the festival has a long history of supporting charities in Somerset and across the UK.

One of those organisations is Children's World, a Glastonbury-based charity that works with children and young people through creative, educational and inclusive activities, particularly supporting those with additional needs.

Festival founder Michael Eavis is a patron of the charity and has been a long-time supporter of its work.

Angela Bolton from Children's World says the backing received from Glastonbury Festival makes a significant difference to what the charity is able to achieve.

She said: "Glastonbury Festival have been a corner stone in terms of supporting the charity with fundraising events throughout the festival."

The charity says the festival's support goes beyond financial donations, helping to raise awareness of its work and create opportunities for fundraising throughout the year.

Children's World delivers a range of projects designed to encourage creativity, inclusion and personal development for children and young people across the region.

Speaking about the impact this support has on the charity's future, Angela Bolton told us: "Had we not had that support over the years, I'm not sure where the charity would be right now."

Glastonbury Festival has supported numerous charitable causes since it began in 1970, with millions of pounds generated for charities over the decades through ticket sales and fundraising initiatives.

With another sell-out event expected next year, charities like Children's World say that continued support remains vital in helping them reach more children and families across Somerset.
