The investigation into the fire at the Saxonvale site in Frome, led by Somerset Council, is currently underway to establish the cause of the incident.

The blaze, which occurred on Wednesday, 1st July, affected the Western Warehouse building.

Emergency services, including Avon and Somerset Police and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, responded swiftly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures like the Silk Mill and former Notts Industries office building.

No injuries have been reported.

Somerset Council, in collaboration with police and fire officers, is focusing its efforts on a detailed examination to determine the fire's origins and evaluate the damage to the affected area.

Specialist fire investigators are on-site as part of the inquiry, ensuring all potential factors are thoroughly examined.

Currently, there are no active utility services connected to any buildings on the Saxonvale site.

The Council is working with its insurers as part of the incident response and has reinforced security measures, including motion-sensor cameras and 24-hour monitoring, following the fire.

Somerset Council officials state that it would be inappropriate to speculate on the cause of the fire while investigations are ongoing.

Once the inquiries are concluded, any required safety, demolition, or site remediation work will be assessed and managed as planned.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available from the ongoing investigation.
