He-Man returns to Wells for special charity film screening
See Masters of the Universe at the Wells Film Centre and support Medicinema
He-Man fans in Wells are in for a treat as a special charity screening of Masters of the Universe is set to take place on 3rd June at the Wells Film Centre. The event will support Medicinema, a charity that provides cinema experiences for hospital patients across the UK.
Wells, Somerset, serves as a key location in the film, with scenes shot at Wells Cathedral and Wookey Hole Caves, facilitated by Screen Somerset. The movie features Somerset’s own James Purefoy in the role of King Randor, He-Man’s father.
The screening provides an opportunity for the community and He-Man enthusiasts to enjoy the film in a setting where some of it was filmed, while contributing to a worthwhile cause. Tickets cost £10 and include a complimentary glass of wine or juice. The event starts with doors opening at 6.30pm and the film commencing at 7.30pm. Tickets can be booked at Wells Film Centre .
Masters of the Universe showcases Somerset as a desirable filming location, with Screen Somerset playing a key role in supporting and attracting film production to the county. Last year, film and TV productions contributed an estimated £6.6 million to the local economy, benefiting sectors like hospitality and tourism.
Councillor Mike Rigby, Somerset Council’s Lead Member for Economic Development Planning and Assets, emphasised the advantages of filming in the region: “Filming brings spend, supports jobs and helps put Somerset on the map. The city of Wells is one of our most iconic locations and a film like this shows it can accommodate even the very biggest productions.”
Masters of the Universe is scheduled for release across the UK on the same day as the screening, 3rd June. The film stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Camila Mendes as Teela, and Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-At-Arms.
