A horse rescue centre in Somerset say the damage left by storm Eowyn is "soul destroying".

World Horse Welfare in Somerton was hit by very heavy rainfall last weekend and is still clearing the damage. It wasn't alone, as businesses and homes across the south of the county were flooded with water up to four feet high.

A major incident was declared on Monday, as residents were evacuated from flooding homes.

Sara manages Glenda Spooner farm: "It looked like you were in some kind of rainforest, basically. It was torrents of rain that came down from the top of the farm. Everybody was working really hard to get sandbags down to direct the rain out onto different areas. It was running like rivers. I mean lots of areas as well as the accommodation."

"It's been really hard. It's soul destroying to see our centre getting damaged with the floods. We've had to obviously close to the members of the public, that's a big revenue for us here. And obviously moving the grooms out into rental accommodation, that's another cost on top of that."

"But I suppose you can't predict what's going to happen. We're obviously on a hill here, we're on the Somerset Levels, so we know that this does happen. But we have to, I think, going forward, know that this is going to be something that's gonna happen on a more regular basis unfortunately, because of climate change."
