Frome Summit Marks New Era of Collaboration Between Councils
Frome Town Council, Somerset Council and MP Anna Sabine unite to strengthen partnership working on key local challenges
Local leaders gathered at the Frome Town Hall for the inaugural Frome Summit, a meeting focused on building stronger partnerships to benefit the community.
On 8th May, Frome Town Council and Somerset Council joined forces for this landmark event, attended by Frome's MP Anna Sabine alongside councillors and senior officers.
Discussions covered key areas impacting the town, including housing, transport, health and wellbeing, the local economy, and youth opportunities.
The summit emphasised the importance of collaboration, acknowledging that no single entity can tackle the challenges Facing Frome alone.
Leader of Somerset Council Bill Revans remarked on the value of the summit, saying, "It was fantastic to hear so many ideas about how Somerset Council and Frome Town Council can work together, and to explore how we can strengthen our collaboration in the future for the benefit of our residents."
Cllr Fiona Barrows, Leader of Frome Town Council, expressed optimism about the summit's outcome. She said, "My thanks today for the genuine engagement by Bill Revans, leader of Somerset Council and his team. Today felt incredibly positive despite the enormous challenges facing us all. There was a real sense of shared purpose in the room and a recognition that by working together we can achieve far more for Frome than we can individually.”
MP Anna Sabine highlighted the event's usefulness in fostering cooperation: "It was brilliant for me and my team to spend the day with both Somerset and Frome councils to better understand how we can work together to deliver for Frome residents. It was really useful and many thanks to everyone who came."
The summit is just the beginning of an ongoing programme aimed at strengthening partnerships and driving action that will positively impact the future of Frome.
