A new farm shop could soon be established near the site of the annual Dunster Show, with plans currently under consideration by the Exmoor National Park Authority (ENPA).

The Dunster Estate has submitted an application to transform the Old Dairy building into a farm shop at Home Farm, located off the A39 near Dunster Castle.

The proposed shop aims to sell a variety of produce from the existing estate to visitors and nearby residents, according to a spokesperson from Architectural Studio South West.

"The proposed shop would primarily sell products that have been produced within the estate," the spokesperson said.

Minor alterations to the building's exterior are included in the plans, which require approval due to its location within the Exmoor National Park.

ENPA is expected to make a decision on the application before Christmas, potentially allowing construction to start early next year.

The estate has not yet disclosed details regarding job creation or opening hours for the proposed shop.

Visitors will be able to use the existing road access without affecting visibility or disrupting the nearby cycle route.

The site lies within flood zones 1 and 2, indicating a relatively low risk of flooding.
