Family pay tribute to beloved brother after Highbridge road fatality

69-year-old cyclist died after collision with a car

Andrew Carter, a 69-year-old from Burnham-on-Sea, died following injuries sustained in a cycling accident in Highbridge last month.

The incident occurred on the A38 Bristol Road when he was hit by a red Ford Fiesta at around 2.45pm on 2nd January.

Despite being admitted to the hospital almost two weeks later, Carter passed away on 18th January.

Carter's family expressed their heartfelt loss, sharing how dearly loved he was. They fondly remembered his joy in daily cycling and walks with his dog, stating: "His absence has left a space that can never be filled."

A man in his 20s has voluntarily attended a police interview related to ongoing inquiries into the accident.

Police are seeking information from witnesses.
