Two people have had to be checked for smoke inhalation after an electric shower caught alight in Somerset.

Crews were called to the incident last night (12th May) after being alerted to a fire breaking out at a property on Movers Place, Street.

Emergency services were alerted by the property owner, with three fire appliances from Street, Glastonbury, and Somerton attending the scene.

The fire was located in the first floor en suite bathroom of the mid-terrace property.

Firefighters quickly isolated the electrics and extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet.

Thermal imaging cameras were used to check for hotspots, and the property was ventilated to clear smoke.

Two occupants suffered slight smoke inhalation but did not require hospital treatment.

The fire caused minor damage to the shower unit and resulted in light smoke logging in the property.

The incident was brought under control by 10.30pm, and the duty of care was left with the owner.
