Cheddar Road in Wedmore to close for urgent gas work
Road closure expected to last two weeks to ensure safe gas supply
Emergency work is set to commence on 4th June in the Cheddar Road area of Wedmore, as Wales & West Utilities undertakes urgent gas pipe replacement.
The work aims to maintain the safety and reliability of the region's gas network and is expected to last for around two weeks.
The closure of Cheddar Road, B3151, by Clewer Bridge, has been agreed upon with Somerset Council to ensure the safety of workers.
A diversion route will be clearly marked for motorists, while school buses will be allowed through the closure in the morning.
Motorists are advised to allow for additional travel time during this period.
Simon Lee from Wales & West Utilities, who is overseeing the project, emphasised the importance of the work, stating it is essential to ensure safe gas delivery to homes and businesses in the area.
He expressed gratitude for the local community's patience during this time and requested that motorists adhere to the signed diversions.
