Calls for Somerset Levels to become UK's next National Park

CPRE Somerset sparks conversation on park status

The Campaign to Protect Rural England Somerset is initiating a conversation about potentially obtaining National Park status for the Somerset Levels.

The organisation - which is marking its 100th year - is seeking public input through a survey about what makes the Levels unique and what improvements could be made.

The idea marks CPRE's centenary, as it aims to highlight the area's landscape and environmental significance.

The survey will help to gather insights and opinions from local people about the potential transformation.

“The Somerset Levels hold a special charm for many people, and we want to understand what features resonate most with the community,” said Becky Collier, CPRE Somerset Manager.

Participants are encouraged to express their thoughts on the importance of the Somerset Levels and provide suggestions for enhancement.

Survey results will be compiled and published online later this year, preserving the confidentiality of individual responses.
