Bristol Ambulance served winding up petition
The company which provide patient transport services is facing unpaid tax allegations
A company providing patient transport in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire is facing a winding up petition.
Action's being taken against Bristol Ambulance over allegations of unpaid tax.
Health service officials say they're working to ensure services continue and to understand the full implications of this decision.
We've approached Bristol Ambulance for a response.
An HMRC spokesperson said:
“We take a supportive approach to dealing with customers who have tax debts and only file winding-up petitions once we’ve exhausted all other options, in order to protect taxpayers’ money.”
A spokesperson for Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board said:
"We are aware that a petition has been lodged to wind up Bristol Ambulance (BAEMS Ltd), which provides patient transport services for people in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. We are working with Bristol Ambulance and other NHS partners to understand the implications of this and ensure that services are maintained for local people.
"Local patient transport services continue to be provided on a business-as-usual basis, and eligible patients should continue to use the Patient Transport Hub phone number and website as normal to book transport.
"It is possible that delays may be experienced following this announcement and we ask patients to consider using family or alternative transport arrangements where possible.
"South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is not affected by this development, and people should continue to call 999 in a life-threatening emergency."
