Body recovered from River Avon after emergency call in Bath

Firefighters jumped into the River Avon to recover a body following reports of an unresponsive person floating in the water near Kensington Meadows in Bath.

The emergency call was made at around 6.45pm. Two firefighters then entered the river from a boat to retrieve the body.

Avon and Somerset Police said: “Emergency services have this evening (Sunday 8 March) recovered an individual's body from the river in Pulteney Bridge, off Bridge Street, in Bath.

“Their death is currently being treated as unexplained but is not thought to be suspicious."

Investigations are ongoing.
