Bleed kits tampered with in Bridgwater
It's after several incidents.
Bridgwater Town Council has seen recent incidents of individuals tampering with a publicly accessible bleed control kit at ReCreation Community Hub.
These kits are life-saving resources designed to give bystanders the means to act quickly in a medical emergency, particularly in the event of a catastrophic bleed.
The kits are packed with trauma dressings, tourniquets, and other essential first-aid tools, these kits are meant to bridge the gap between injury and the arrival of emergency services. In some cases, they mean the difference between life and death.
When a bleed kit is vandalised, stolen, or tampered with, it may no longer be fit for use — rendering it useless when someone desperately needs it.
"We install these kits with the hope that they’re never needed — but if they are, they must be there, intact, and ready to use,” said Ann-Marie Gould, Community Development Officer at Bridgwater Town Council.
“It’s extremely disappointing to see people interfering with these kits. It not only puts lives at risk but also undermines the trust and effort that goes into safeguarding our communities.”
If you witness anyone tampering with a bleed kit, please report it to 101.
