Arrest after teenager dies in collision near Nether Stowey

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after the death of a teenager in a collision near Nether Stowey.

Emergency services were called to Peartwater Road, between Nether Stowey and Spaxton, shortly before 10pm on Friday 8 May following a single-vehicle collision involving a white Kia Picanto.

Police say a 17-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the Kia, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The teenager's family have been informed and are being supported by a specially-trained officer.

Three other people in the vehicle were checked over in hospital.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, as well as driving while unfit due to alcohol and drugs.

He has since been released on conditional bail while the investigation continues.
