An appeal has been launched

A new appeal has gone out to find more foster carers in Somerset.

There are seven hundred children currently in care here, and the council says more carers are needed so they can stay close to schools, friends and communities.

Information events are taking place between now and November where people can find out more.

Cllr Heather Shearer, Lead Member for Children, Families and Education, said:

"Every child deserves the chance to grow up feeling safe, supported and connected to the people and places that are important to them.

Local foster carers play a vital role in helping children remain close to their schools, friendships, and support networks during what can be a very difficult time in their lives."
