An investigation is taking place into reports a footballer was verbally abused at a match in Somerset.

One of Chew Magna's players said they received homophobic comments whilst facing Axbridge United on Saturday.

The game was abandoned - and the claims were reported to the county's Football Association.

A spokesperson for the Somerset County Football League says discrimination of any kind has no place in the game.

The league says the matter has been formally reported to Somerset FA, who are now conducting an investigation.
