Ranked: The worst GP surgeries in Swindon and Wiltshire

The worst GP surgeries in Swindon and Wiltshire have been named in a new report.
The 2026 GP Patient Survey asked patients to score the overall experience of using the surgery with which they were registered.
Nationally, there was a slight improvement in patient satisfaction, with 76.7 per cent saying their surgery was either “very good” or “fairly good” this year.
In Swindon and Wiltshire, the surgery that achieved the lowest Good rating – that is, where patients either said the practice was “very good” or “fairly good” was Phoenix Surgery in Swindon with an aggregate of 65 per cent.
There, six per cent of patients said their experience was “very poor” and 14 per cent said it was “fairly poor.”
Second from the bottom was Avenue Surgery in Warminster, with a Good rating of 68. Twelve per cent of patients said their experience was “very poor”, while 10 per cent said it was “fairly poor.”
Also scoring 68 was Downton Surgery near Salisbury. There, five per cent of patients said their overall experience was “very poor” while 10 per cent said it was “fairly poor.”

All came under the national average for patient satisfaction.
The GP Patient Survey is an annual, official patient experience survey commissioned by NHS England and run independently by Ipsos.
It samples adults aged 16+ registered with GP practices across England, using postal invitations with online and paper completion options.
Around three million people are invited, with the 2026 fieldwork running from 2 January to 13 April 2026 and yielding 654,714 responses – a national response rate of 22.1 per cent.
