Woman hospitalised after crash involving police vehicle on A350 near Chippenham

Police attended the scene and the road has since reopened

A woman in her 70s has been taken to hospital after a crash on the A350 involving a police car and a black Mini Cooper near Chippenham.

The collision occurred at 12.05pm today, 3rd June, on the northbound carriageway between the Malmesbury Roundabout and the M4.

The woman was a passenger in the Mini Cooper, and although her injuries are considered serious, they are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

The driver of the Mini Cooper, a man in his 70s, was treated at the scene by paramedics and discharged.

A police officer driving the marked vehicle was also assessed but did not require hospitalisation.

At the time of the crash, the police officer was responding to an ongoing incident.

No arrests have been made.

Due to the involvement of a police vehicle, the Independent Office for Police Conduct has been notified and is reviewing the situation.

The northbound lane of the A350 was shut down to facilitate investigation efforts and has since been reopened.
