Woman hospitalised after horse spooked by speeding van in Melksham
Police seek information following the incident
A horse rider in her 30s has been left with serious injuries after her horse was spooked by a speeding van near Melksham.
Wiltshire Police are now trying to trace the driver involved.
The woman was leaving an equestrian lodge on Lower Woodrow Road on her horse and had come to the edge of the road when it happened.
Police said a van travelling at speed along the road spooked the horse, throwing the rider off.
The horse then stood on the woman, causing serious injuries.
It happened on 31st July, between 9.20am and 9.40am.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened, or who may have captured the van on dash cam.
The vehicle is described as white with brown markings on the side.
Police said they do not have a make, model or number plate for it.
A reminder to drivers
Officers have also used the appeal to remind drivers of the importance of passing horses "wide and slow".
They said motorists should keep at least two metres of distance and reduce their speed to a maximum of 10mph.
