96% of Wiltshire families offered first choice primary school

Families in Wiltshire have been finding out about primary school places today, with 96% being offered their first choice.

99% of applicants received an offer from one of their three preferred choices.

Cllr Laura Mayes, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills said: “We know that families across the county will be eagerly awaiting today's news, as their child prepares to start school. I'm pleased to be sharing such high figures once again, with 96% offered their first preference. I'd like to thank our officers for their hard work to ensure we have sufficient places across the county for all our pupils."

More than 5,000 applications were made online, and people who did so will receive an email regarding the outcome.

Less than 50 paper submissions were made, which will be responded to by letter, which will be posted today (April 17th).

All parents and carers are required to accept of decline their offer by Wednesday 3rd May 2023.

Meanwhile in Hampshire, 98% of children going into Reception year have been offered a place at one of their three preferred choices, with 93% getting their first option.

For children going from infants to junior school, 99% were offered a place at one of their three preferred options.
