Wiltshire Police urge social media caution to reduce festive break ins
299 burglaries were recorded in Wiltshire last Christmas
Wiltshire Police are reminding us to keep our digital profile safe to prevent burglaries.
Break ins during the festive period have dropped in the last two years, with a 5% drop from 2022 to 2023., according to research by claim.co.uk.
There were 315 burglaries recorded by Wiltshire Police in 2022, with 299 in 2023.
That research revealed Wiltshire is the fourth least at-risk county in the UK per 100,000 people.
The Police Force has also shared a series of tips to help us protect our homes.
Officers are urging us not to share our live location on social media stories or when we are away on holiday.
We're also told not to share what gifts we've bought or been given for Christmas online.
Police also suggest using a television simulator, displaying a moving screen on your television, or using timer lights when you are out of your home to prevent it from looking empty.
