A serving Wiltshire Police officer has lost his appeal against a conviction of assault against a teenage boy.

In March last year, PC Lee Prince was convicted of physically assaulting and verbally abusing a 17 year old boy on 17th April 2023.

It happened in White Beam Court in Swindon.

He was handed a 16-week prison sentence, suspended for a year, as well as being compelled to complete 240 hours of unpaid work and was ordered to pay £775 trial costs, £500 compensation, and a £154 victim surcharge.

PC Prince is currently suspended from duties within the Force and will face an internal investigation for gross misconduct.

Wiltshire Police Deputy Chief Constable Mark Cooper said: “The public rightly expect the highest standards of behaviour from our officers - and where it is found that they have fallen short it is right that they are held to account.

“We will not hesitate to robustly apply the law in such cases.

“The public place their trust and confidence in Wiltshire Police and it is imperative that we reflect that in how we expect the highest standards from those within the organisation.”
