Wiltshire Detective Sergeant attends Downing Street pre-Christmas lunch
The event celebrated service personnel who will be working over the festive period
Wiltshire Police Detective Sergeant Toni Nugent joined the Prime Minister and his wife for a pre-Christmas lunch at No. 10 Downing Street this week.
DS Nugent was among the many service personnel invited to the event on Tuesday along with their families, in recognition of the sacrifices made by those working over the festive period.
Attending the special occasion with her mum, DS Nugent shared her thoughts on being included:
“I feel incredibly privileged to have been invited to Downing Street. Policing over Christmas is always a busy and demanding time, and this was a wonderful pre-Christmas treat.
“Working through the festive period can be challenging, but there’s a strong sense of solidarity among officers. We work hard to support each other, tackle crime, and help victims - just as we do all year round, often with fewer resources.
“Being away from family during Christmas can be emotionally tough, but many people across all emergency services make that sacrifice to keep others safe. It’s humbling to be part of that effort.”
As part of the occasion, guests from across the Police, NHS, and military were gifted an embroidered decoration of Downing Street to mark the event.
