Wiltshire will have approximately 100 publicly accessible bleed control kits as part as a new initiative to help communities respond to serious bleeding emergencies.

The project, led by Wiltshire Council in collaboration with partners, aims to help members of the public respond quickly to incidents, while waiting for emergency services, potentially saving lives.

The kits will be installed across the county's 18 community areas, with 40 located at council-owned buildings and the remainder hosted by community organisations and venues.

The locations of these kits is not fully decided, with community groups, sports clubs, village halls and other venues being encouraged to register their interest in hosting a bleed control kit.

The initiative was introduced through a motion at Full Council on 19th May and received unanimous support, demonstrating strong commitment to enhancing community resilience and helping deliver practical benefits.

Councillor Mel Jacob, Cabinet Member for Communities said: “Many people are already familiar with seeing defibrillators in public places. Bleed control kits are another way of helping communities be prepared and giving people access to the tools that could help save a life in an emergency."

Superintendent Mike Vass highlighted the importance of public awareness of kit locations, stating the equipment is available to the public 24/7 and comes with essential first aid instructions.
