The winners of Wiltshire's Best Kept Villages 2026 have been honoured at a ceremony on 20th September, celebrating their outstanding contributions to the community and environment.

Organised by CPRE Wiltshire and sponsored by Wiltshire Council and idverde, the awards highlighted the hard work of volunteers, parish councils, and community groups in maintaining the beauty and vibrancy of their villages.

Alderbury & Whaddon impressed judges with its thriving community life and immaculate facilities, while Easterton's colourful displays and green spaces secured the medium village title.

Rushall was praised for its welcoming atmosphere and commitment to maintaining local amenities.

The Laurence Kitching Awards for environmental enhancement and community involvement went to Ashton Keynes, All Cannings, and Swallowcliffe.

Great Bedwyn received the Best Newcomer accolade for its conservation and community involvement efforts.

Judges considered factors like community involvement, environmental stewardship, biodiversity, public spaces, and floral displays.

Danny Austin, Chair of CPRE Wiltshire, expressed his admiration for the villages, saying, "The Best Kept Village Competition has been celebrating Wiltshire's communities for many years, and once again the judges were impressed by the dedication, enthusiasm and pride shown by villages across the county."

David Bullock, Director of Highways, said, "The Best Kept Village Competition is a wonderful celebration of community spirit and local pride. Across Wiltshire, volunteers, parish councils, and residents dedicate countless hours to caring for the places where they live, and these awards recognise that hard work and commitment."

Paul Ashman, Community Engagement Manager at idverde, added, "It's inspiring to see the pride that communities across Wiltshire take in their villages. The competition highlights the huge contribution made by volunteers who help care for public spaces, support biodiversity and make their local areas welcoming places to live and visit."
