Should Wilton's St Peter's Church be used for the community?

A survey's been launched asking residents what they think

St Peter's Church in Wilton could become a new community facility for the town.

The local rector and the Wilton Community Land Trust are exploring the possibility of the site, on the corner of the A36 and A30, being used for widely.

A survey's been launched asking local people what they think about the idea and to put forward suggestions for how it could be used.

Initial options include community fitness classes, youth club, toddler group, community cinema and more.

We're told there are no plans to change the structure of the church, and the outdoor space and graveyard would be preserved and protected.

But the group says they'd like to 'bring St Peter's Church building back into the heart of everyday life in Wilton'.

The introduction to the online survey says:

"Instead, we are trying to find out if the local community supports proposals to refurbish and repurpose the interior layout of the church building as a multi-use community owned centre for activities run by local people for local people."

We can take part in the survey via the Wilton Community Land Trust.

Results will be announced in early March, with consultation sessions set to take place next month too.
