Three weeks of gas works in Wilton underway

The Avenue has been closed to traffic northbound

A busy route in Wilton is shut to some traffic for the next three weeks (from Monday 17th February), to allow for gas main repairs.

SGN is working on The Avenue, between the A36 roundabout and Fairview Road, with the road closed northbound.

That's affecting access to Wilton's park and ride site too, with drivers asked to use Kingsway, or come from the A360 down The Avenue to reach the area.

Wiltshire Council's laying on special shuttle buses while work's ongoing.

They'll be operating towards Salisbury city centre every 30 minutes from 7.00am to 6.30pm Monday to Saturday.

The buses will return from bus stop S on New Canal in Salisbury and will pick up at bus stops along Fisherton Street, but not along Wilton Road.

A notice states the work could be ongoing until 17th March, but it's expected to be completed ahead of that date.
