A Wilton woman, who was caught drink driving while four children were in the vehicle, has avoided jail.

43 year old Louise Kimber, from Frampton Court, was seen swerving on the A345 towards Salisbury in August 2024 - she went over the centre line, and into a hedge.

An off-duty police officer reported their concerns about her manner of driving.

The car was found parked up at Longhedge, after a police search to locate the vehicle.

Kimber identified herself as the driver, as she left a nearby shop, with the children inside the car.

A breath test found she was three times over the drink drive limit.

She admitted driving whilst over the prescribed alcohol limit and careless driving at Salisbury Magistrates Court yesterday (Monday 7th April).

Kimber's been handed a 12 week prison sentence, suspended for two years - as well as being disqualified from driving for 60 months, and ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.

PC Munns, from Salisbury Police, said: “Driving whilst under the influence of alcohol is one of the ‘Fatal Five’ offences, meaning it's one of the five main factors that cause serious road traffic collisions.

"Not only was Louise Kimber putting her own life in danger, but also the lives of the children in her vehicle and other road users.

"Drink driving is not tolerated and there is never an excuse to be behind a wheel of a vehicle after having alcohol.”
