A man from Westbury who attempted to escape from a police dog after leading officers on a pursuit at over 100mph has been jailed for a year.

Daniel Kibblewhite, 31, of Castle View, admitted to six offences in court, including: dangerous driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance, failing to stop for police, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and racially aggravated public order.

Officers were alerted to Kibblewhite's presence in Bathampton on the morning of 10th July, who was wanted for other offences, with the 31-year-old passing them on Bradford Road, heading towards Bradford on Avon, around 10.15am.

He was pursued through Sally in the Woods, where he performed a number of dangerous overtakes, including on blind bends towards oncoming traffic, at speeds in excess of 100mph.

Officers lost sight of him when he drove into a roadside farm, with officers told the vehicle had been hidden behind a large warehouse.

Police spotted Kibblewhite walking away from the car, and he ran when he saw them.

PD Stan was called in to locate him, which he did so, with Kibblewhite hiding in an empty horsebox. He then attempted to flee again, but was no match for Stan, who detained him, leading to his arrest.

He was then further arrested for racially abusing a police officer.

PC Layton, based in the Volume Crime Team, said: “Kibblewhite’s driving was incredibly reckless and dangerous, putting numerous lives at risk as he attempted to escape justice.

“There can never be any justification for driving in this manner – a collision at that speed could very easily be fatal.

“After he fled his vehicle he tried to hide – but he was no match for Police Dog Stan.”
