A Warminster driver, who led police on a dangerous pursuit around Trowbridge, has been given a suspended prison sentence.

2\2 year old Toyun Preece from Brook Street, failed to stop for officers while driving a blue Vauxhall Corsa that he wasn't insured to use, in October last year.

He weaved around traffic while speeding, and went the wrong way around roundabouts during the chase.

Preece was arrested after he stopped in a dead end in Hawkeridge.

He's admitted dangerous driving, driving while uninsured and driving without a licence during a hearing at Salisbury Magistrates Court.

A 12 month prison sentence, suspended for two years, has been handed down.

Preece has also been banned from driving for two years, and ordered to pay a £187 victim surcharge and £85 in costs.

PC Thomas Richardson of the Roads Policing Unit said:

“Preece’s driving was incredibly reckless and dangerous and it is extremely fortunate that there were no serious collisions.

“Preece clearly had no regard for other members of the public and his dangerous driving repeatedly forced them to take evasive action.

“We will continue to clamp down on dangerous drivers and ensure they are put before the courts.”
