Wiltshire Police have confirmed the cordon was lifted shortly after 5pm yesterday (15 June) following the discovery of an unexploded World War II grenade.

A Salisbury leisure centre and nearby homes were evacuated.

We're told access has now been restored.

The cordon was lifted after the Army EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) safely removed the suspect device to the Avon Valley Nature Reserve where they were able to make it safe.

A magnet fisher discovered the device on Sunday afternoon in the River Avon.
