Wiltshire Police have arrested a 19 year old man and a 16 year old boy in connection with a burglary at a park in Chippenham.

Police received a call shortly after midnight on Tuesday 23 September in relation to a break-in at John Coles Park – several chainsaws and garden tools were reported to have been stolen from a storage unit at the park and two males had been seen carrying the equipment in the nearby area.

Officers identified a suspect through CCTV enquiries and he was arrested on suspicion of burglary at approximately 5.30pm on Wednesday 24 September.

This morning, a second person, a 16-year-old boy, was also arrested in connection with the burglary.

Both remain in custody in Melksham for questioning.

Insp Pete Foster said: “These arrests came about following police enquiries and diligent members of our community raising concerns regarding suspicious behaviour.

“It’s really important that if you see somebody acting in a suspicious manner to alert police so we can further investigate.”
