Trowbridge man jailed for assaulting woman

A 41 year-old Trowbridge man has been jailed, for assaulting a woman.
At the sentencing hearing on Monday, Swindon Magistrates’ Court heard how Jason Prior, from Trowbridge, was seen assaulting a woman in Bythesea Road on the evening of Tuesday 2nd June.
He was found guilty of assault by beating, which he denied and sentenced to 23 weeks imprisonment, approaching the maximum that the court can impose.
Prior was also found guilty of possession of cannabis and sentenced to three weeks imprisonment, to run concurrently.
He is also subject to a restraining order, which prevents him from contacting his victim.
PC Emma Hensberg said: “I would like to thank the victim in this case for her bravery in helping to bring the perpetrator to justice, which may help protect others from suffering similar abuse.
