Trowbridge man charged with offences including rape and false imprisonment

A Trowbridge man has been charged with offences including rape and false imprisonment.

Darren Howard, 38, of Westmead Crescent, Trowbridge, has been charged with three counts of rape, section 18 grievous bodily harm, false imprisonment and controlling and coercive behaviour.

He appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning, where he was remanded into custody ahead of a plea hearing at Swindon Crown Court on November 28.

DS Ben Brewster from CID said: “This case, which was reported to police on Monday, involved excellent joined up work between Central CID and response colleagues, ensuring a quick response to the victim, the subsequent arrest of the suspect, submission to CPS and appearance in court today.
