Teenage girl injured in A350 crash following police pursuit
Man in his 30s arrested in Chippenham
A 14-year-old girl has suffered serious injuries following a crash on the A350 near Chippenham.
The incident happened on the morning of 1st February, when police spotted a man driving a stolen BMW along West Cepen Way.
After the driver fled from officers, a pursuit was authorised that continued along Bristol Road, Hungerdown Lane, Bath Road, and onto the A350 towards Lacock.
During the pursuit, the BMW collided with a Volkswagen Transporter. A 14-year-old occupant of the Volkswagen was taken to Southmead Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the BMW, a man in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving, drink and drug driving, and escaping lawful custody. He was taken to Gablecross custody, where he remains.
